Reserve Officer Training Corps Support

Our Chapter supports the Cameron University (CU) Military Science Program as the only Senior ROTC program in our area.  We also support the Junior ROTC programs at Eisenhower, Lawton, and MacArthur High Schools.  Our support comes in the form of awards, scholarships and other recognition.

At CU, we annually award a National MOAA medal and certificate to an outstanding third year student.  In 2017, we began presenting an additional Chapter Leadership award which provides a monetary award of $1000 in recognition of outstanding demonstrated and future leadership potential.  We also seek to provide a $1000 financial assistance scholarship to a deserving Military Science II student who meets our criteria and plans to sign a military obligation contract in the fall of their MS III year.

Senior cadets at CU are provided with a set of Second Lieutenants gold bars prior to their commissioning ceremony.  We inform these soon-to-be new lieutenants about their eligibility to receive a no-fee, BASIC memberships in National MOAA.  We want to try and start them out with an early appreciation for MOAA membership.

We try and help in other ways as we become aware of unique or particular needs.  One such need (pictured) was the donation of framed military artwork for an enhanced appearance in Burch Hall (Military Science Building) on the CU campus.  This was a need expressed by the PMS when he spoke at one of our General Membership Meetings where he was our guest speaker.

We also present annual awards at area JROTC programs.  The award recognizes an outstanding third year cadet from each of these schools.  These cadets are presented a medal and an award certificate during each school's annual Recognition Ceremony.  These cadets are then eligible to wear the medal during their senior year.

For more infomation, please go to the respective ROTC pages under the blue Chapter Programs header.
