Thought for the Week...

Each and every day you may unknowingly be an inspiration to someone.  You are probably not the most successful person you know or the most productive.  You are not likely the highest achiever either but that doesn't change the fact that can make a positive impact on those around you as well as those you come into contact with.  While you may not view it this way, you may be underestimating your inspirational value to others.

Senior ROTC
Annual Awards and Other Recognition

Chapter President Don DuRant presents Cadet Watson the National MOAA Leadership Award at the 2024 ROTC Spring Awards Ceremony

Chapter President Don DuRant presents Chapter MOAA Leadership Award to Cadet Thompson at Cameron ROTC 2024 Spring Awards Ceremony

Cameron University has the only Senior ROTC program in our area.  Our Chapter annually presents two awards.  We also provide senior cadets with a set of Second Lieutenant gold bars prior to their commissioning.  We inform these soon-to-be officers about their eligibility to join MOAA.  We also provide them no-fee "Basic" National MOAA memberships to start them out with an early appreciation for membership.

Annually, National MOAA recognizes cadets in their next-to-last year in the program (normally an MS III) who has demonstrated exceptional potential for military leadership with a medal and certificate.  No more than one award may be presented each year in any one ROTC program and no individual is eligible to receive the award more than once. The nominee is selected by the Cameron ROTC cadre.  The 2024 recipient is MS III Cadet Trystian Thompson.

In 2017, our Chapter began presenting a Leadership Award to recognize an MS III cadet who has demonstrated exemplary execution in a leadership position and potential for future military leadership.  The nominee is selected by Cameron ROTC cadre.  The award consists of a Chapter Certificate and a check for $1000.  Our 2024 recipient is MS III Cadet Earnest Watson.
